We do them all the time.

Face-painting is a great birthday party entertainment for kids 3-10 and also for teenage all-girls parties.

Usually our little clients are 4-9 years old.

I would not recommend face-painting for kids younger than 2: they are afraid of clowns, don't let strangers touch them and mess up their faces right away. But after 3 kids really love to paint their faces and hands, and in summer - legs and belly-buttons too!

Face-painting can be adjusted to any theme party and I can work in a team with any show.

If there are not many kids, or most of them are too small - I can twist balloon animals too. But if kids are really into face-painting - I just would not have time for balloons. I offer complimentary photography, as the only way to save face-painting art is to take good pictures - and popular snap-shot cameras are no good for close-ups.

The "standard" birthday party is about 1-1.5 hours, 15-25 kids. If you expect more than 35 kids - it makes sense to book a face-painter for 2 hours or get 2 face-painters.

My usual rate for parties in NYC is 100-120$ an hour, additional time is negotiable. (For comparison: NYC party agencies charge 200-250$ an hour for a face-painter). I can also refer you to magicians, jugglers, mimes, puppeteers, costume characters free of charge!

Here are some pictures from the birthday parties.

If you would like to have your party outside your home, here are some suggestions. These are places , I've worked for and could recommend.

CHILDREN'S MUSEUM OF MANHATTAN (212 W 83 street) has a special party room and several themes to chose from. Price includes admission to the Museum and all its great expositions for everybody in your party. They also have shows on the weekends: storytelling, magic, puppet theater etc. - or kids can stage their own show in a party-room, Museum provides directions, costumes, arts and crafts materials etc. Party coordinators are great, they sing and dance with the kids, help to serve the food and cake, make the party run smoothly. CENTRAL PARK CAROUSEL is a NYC landmark, a picturesque setting for a summer party. They have tables with umbrellas for private parties and they can help with catering. Price include carousel rides. They don't entertain though, so you'll have to hire performers - or do it yourself. WALMANS RINK has a heated tent for parties in winter time- the skating season. The same phone for both locations: (212) 396-1010

CENTRAL PARK MARIONETTE THEATER (Swedish Cottage, West 81st street entrance to the Park) is my favorite place in NYC to work for parties. This is a real Scandinavian 18 century building, brought to NY in pieces and constructed in the Park, with real antique wooden decorations, huge party-room and the best marionette shows in town. If you have a big party, you can book the theater all for yourselves for a couple of hours. Pat, party coordinator: (212)988-9093.

GROVE STREET PLAYHOUSE is a small childrens' theater in the West Village available for birthday parties. They don't have a party room and set up tables on the stage. They have several plays for kids with great scenery and actors. For parties call Marilyn: (212) 741-3646

FUN-O-RAMA, 608 Neptune Ave. in Brooklyn, is a new party-space and children's theater, specializing in catering to the Russian community. Shows run in Russian and English. They have rides and entertainment for birthday parties. My friend Natalia is their face-painter and theater director. Call: (718)266-1716.
